The NPLQ is the National and Internationally recognised qualification required for you to work as a lifeguard at a swimming pool.

Lifeguard Trainer Assessors are responsible for the delivery of a lifeguard qualification - choose from pool or beach or open water specialists. The Lifeguard Trainer Assessor course is a very niche qualification, so we gather expressions of interest from potential candidates. Once we have a sufficient number of participants, we organise and run a course in a location that is closest to the majority of the group.
These courses tend to take place in autumn and early spring. We are hoping our next RLSS Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor course will run in late September.

I have numerous water-sport and leisure qualifications from teaching surfing to teaching lifeguards to teaching powerboat courses… and dozens in between.
However for lifeguard courses i hold the highest qualifications available in each discipline….The RLSS National Trainer.
With this qualification, not only can I teach our mainstream lifeguard courses and industry courses, I can also teach the trainer courses.

Beach lifeguard courses take place in Sept/Oct/Nov. We encourage you to book onto these dates as the water and air temperatures are at their warmest. However we also have courses in March/April.
